Summer Adventures! [pt. 1]

Adventures / Happiness / Misc / Photographs

I did not leave the northeast, but feel “fully traveled” after this summer. I went to Keuka Lake, a cabin outside of Ithaca, hiking and camping in the Adirondacks, baby-visiting in Vermont, and galavanting around New York City. I couldn’t ask for much more. In this post are photos from July’s adventures, in another, I’ll share August’s. I hope they capture all the beauty, love, peace, and adventure I was able to experience throughout this summer’s travels. Less IS more, sometimes. I’m finally getting it! 🙂

Writing in my cabin in Spencer, NY. This trip was supposed to be “time away to be creative”. But it turned out to be “time away to journal about a bunch of crap and do absolutely nothing but lay around and sometimes walk”. However, there has been a distinct rise in the number of “creative ideas” I’ve had SINCE my little solo trip. Maybe writing about all that crap and doing nothing was what I needed…?

One of my “hikes” that was really a walk to lounge on a picnic table in a field in the sun.

I think, too, one of the things that made this place so comforting/rejuvenating was how much it reminded me of Camp Seven Hills–where I spent a couple weeks each summer (for eight years) amid throngs of other young girl scouts. So I kinda felt like I was going back to my childhood. Sometimes this is good.

And sometimes I forget just how pretty the finger lakes are. This is Seneca Lake.

Our cozy campsite. The trees mostly blocked the views of all the RVs.

Summiting Mt. Ampersand. So good.

Rollins Pond. We had our own private beach, enjoyed a couple really lovely sunsets over the water, and even got to paddle around in a canoe!

A VERY cute and fun (and yummy) french cafe in Saranac Lake. We found it by accident!

The fun/hard part. How I love to scramble!!!
